This series originally started when we created a piece for ArtPrize 2012 (see ArtPrize series, which placed 27th out of 1,700 artists in the world’s largest art contest. We wanted to create a statement piece about “renewal”, being washed clean. We researched and studied the effects of patina that happens to metal; the beauty of and under the stages of buildup or film. We also studied our photographs of looking over a cliff in Pictured Rocks, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, along with the word and river in Greece, “Verdigris” for our coloring and movement.
The original is 8’ x 18” (6-panel piece) and has been displayed in: Grand Rapids, Michigan; Naples, Florida; Miami, Florida; and, Brooklyn, New York.
We have created a handful of smaller versions of it for customized spaces.
